Angelina Rosemary (Villani) Detka, 97, passed away on April 13, 2020 at 16 Acres Health Center in Springfield. She was born in Greenfield on January 22, 1923 to the late Antonio and Maria (Falconio) Villani.
Angelina was a graduate of High School of Commerce and worked for Rubin Brothers, Holyoke Card & Paper, and as the office manager for Stillman’s Department store in downtown Springfield. She then went to work with her brother, Dr. Dante Villani, helping to manage the business side of his dental practice, until retiring in 1990.
She was a long-time member of the Sons of Italy, the Sisters of Columbus and a communicant of Holy Cross Parish.
She had many fond memories of summers with family and friends at Soundview Beach in Old Lyme, CT and enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners, making her delicious meatballs.
Angelina was predeceased by her husband of 72 years, John Detka, and her brother, Aldo Villani of Chicopee.
She leaves behind her daughter, Georgianne Detka and partner Paul Soltys of Niantic, CT, brothers, Dante Villani and wife Joanne of Somers, CT and Davide Villani of Springfield, sister-in-law Natalie Villani of Chicopee, many cherished nieces & nephews, and grand-puppy Tallulah Mae.
A private burial was held at St. Michael’s Cemetery, with a memorial service for family and friends to be held at a future date.
