Angelina (Bibiano) Riggio, 71, passed away at home on Sunday, August 30, 2020, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Canolo Nuovo, Reggio Calabria, Italy on May 21, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Castolo & Rosa (Staltari) Bibiano.
Angelina immigrated to the United States in 1973, with her husband Antonio Riggio, to raise their two children.
Angelina worked at Chapin Center Nursing Home for over 30 years. She loved and took pride in her work, making sure her wing was always clean & fresh. She would always help out, and was always willing to cover for anyone when needed.
Angelina loved her family and cherished all the time spent with her grandchildren; they meant the world to her.
She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Sandra & husband Richard Lilly of Springfield, son, Dominic & wife Lila of Springfield, beloved grandchildren, Eddie, Shawn, Nicolas, Dominic, Antonio, Angelina, Roman & Nico, brother, Nicola Bibiano of Genoa, Italy, sisters, Caterina & Maria of Reggio Calabria, and many nieces & nephews of both the U.S. & Italy. She also leaves her best friend of over 30 years, Sarah Wilson of Springfield, who she met at the Chapin Center.
Sadly, along with her cherished husband Antonio, she was predeceased by brothers, Salvatore & Antonio, and sisters, Teresa & Francesca, all of Reggio Calabria.
Family and friends are invited to Angelina’s funeral services beginning with a visiting hour from 6-7 p.m., Monday, September 7, at Tazzini Funeral Home, 22 Locust St. in Springfield; Liturgy of Christian Burial, Tuesday, 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Springfield; followed by her burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Masks & social distancing required at all.
