Anne T. Napoli


Anne Theresa (Capozza) Napoli, 92, died peacefully in her sleep on June 9, 2022.


Born in Springfield, she was the daughter of the late Joseph & Mary (D’Amore) Capozza. A lifelong resident of Springfield, Anne graduated from Commerce High School and went on to Elms College, Westfield State University, and AIC, culminating in a Master of Education degree. Anne’s career was within the Springfield School Department, ranging from Teacher’s Aide to Teacher to Assistant Principal.


Her love for family, the city of Springfield, the South End, and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church started at an early age and lasted her lifetime. She was famous for her ice cream sundaes at the South End Pharmacy, and events like the Italian Feast, membership in the Italian Women’s Guild, playing cards with friends, and Sunday family dinners kept her active and ever so connected to her home.


Anna was known for her writing, attention to detail in all she did, and balancing her checkbook by hand, single handedly keeping the white-out industry prosperous.


She was predeceased by her loving husband, Domenic Napoli, sister, Louise Bonavita, and brothers, Joe & Angelo Capozza.


Anna is survived by her beloved sons, Gaetano “Guy” & wife Susan of Port St. Lucie, FL, Michael, her best friend, caretaker & with whom she

lived, sharing a special bond, and Stephen of Longmeadow, sister-in-law, Nancy Capozza, grandchildren, Stephanie & husband Philipp, Cristina & husband Marcus, Nicole, Angela & fiancé Christian, US Army Sgt. Gaetano, and Dominique, and great-grandchildren, Dominic & Sophia.


Family and friends are invited to visit Saturday, June 18, 9-10 a.m. at Tazzini Funeral Home, 22 Locust Street in Springfield, proceeding to Anna’s 11:00 a.m. Liturgy of Christian Burial at Mt. Carmel Church. Her burial will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Carmel Church, 123 William St., Springfield, MA 01105.
