Anthony J. Curto


Anthony Joseph "Buddy" Curto, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 11, 2020, after a brief illness. He was born in Springfield on June 22, 1936, son of the late Peter J. and Emma (Mercolino) Curto.

Buddy was a 1954 graduate of Commerce High School. He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from AIC in 1958. Buddy then went on to receive a Bachelor of Law from Western New England College in 1969.

After college Buddy chose a career in plumbing. He became a Master Plumber and was co-owner of Suburban Plumbing & Heating for over 15 years. In 1984, he went to work for Harry Grodsky & Co., Inc. as a Chief Estimator and Head of Security, retiring in 1999. However, he remained with the company as a consultant until 2009. Later, Buddy became the plumbing inspector for the towns of Longmeadow and East Longmeadow.

Buddy was predeceased by his beloved son Mark A. Curto, and the love of his life, his beloved wife of 50 years, Elizabeth D. (Westberg) Curto. Buddy leaves behind his adoring daughter Toni E. Curto-O’Malley & husband Kevin of Longmeadow, his beautiful granddaughters Dylan M. and Taia Q. O’Malley, his sister Rose Coughlin of Chicopee and several nieces and nephews, loving family members and close friends.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 9-10 a.m. on Saturday, March 7 at Tazzini Funeral Home, 22 Locust St. in Springfield, proceeding to his Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, then to his burial at St. Michael’s Cemetery, where he will join Beth & Mark for eternity.
