Anthony Paul DiVenuto, 80, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2020. He was the son of the late Michael & Angela (Recchia) DiVenuto.
A lifelong resident of the South End, Tony was always surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Tony was a barber by trade and once owned a barber shop in the Springfield Plaza; eventually retiring as a custodian from Springfield Public Schools. He was often seen around the city helping students as a crossing guard. He cared for the students and was genuinely concerned with their wellbeing.
He truly enjoyed dinners with his family, and his rambling heartfelt Graces at the beginning of each meal will be missed.
Tony leaves his son Armand DiVenuto & wife Christine of Ludlow, daughters Susan DiVenuto & wife Laurel Landon of Chicopee and Laurie Dearing & husband John II of Chicopee, brother, John DiVenuto, brother-in-law Norman Fleury, and former wives, Virginia (Robbins) DiVenuto & Kathleen (Pepin) DiVenuto. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren, Michael Landon of Texas, Amanda & Devon Labonte of Chicopee, Rory, Eamon, Liam & Brigid DiVenuto of Ludlow, and great-grandson Michael Robert Landon & great-great-granddaughter Aria Lauren Landon of Texas. He will also be missed by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Dominick DiVenuto & wives Josephine & Theresa and Joseph DiVenuto, sisters, Anna & husband Michael Scibelli and Grace Fleury, and sister-in-law Caroline DiVenuto.
Covid-19 restrictions called for Tony's Christian burial at St. Michael’s Cemetery to be private. Memorial contributions may be made to: Loaves & Fishes in Springfield or The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Western MA.
