Antonio “Tony” Mario Cerrato, 57, passed away suddenly on January 22, 2020 in Pompano Beach, FL with his loving wife by his side. Born in Bracigliano, Salerno, Italy in 1962, he was the son of the late Domenico & Rosa (Daniele) Cerrato.
Tony came to America in 1982, where he met his loving wife Rosamaria and opened Cerrato’s Pastry Shop in 1988. His passion was creating and honing his skills as a master pastry chef. In his spare time Tony was an avid cyclist enjoying many rides locally through backroads and mountains.
Tony will be dearly missed by his wife Rosamaria (Pozzuto), son Gerardo, daughter Isabella, his brother Gerardo & wife Maria Pia of Roma, Italy, his sister Dominga & husband Francesco & step-mother Maria Pia of Salerno, Italy, his second parents, Zio Nicola & Zia Edda (Daniele) Caputo of Springfield, along with the rest of his extended family & friends.
All are invited to visit Sunday, January 26, from 2-6 p.m. at Tazzini Funeral Home, 22 Locust St., in Springfield. On Monday, all are welcome to meet at St. Mary’s Church in Longmeadow at 10:30 a.m. for Tony’s Liturgy of Christian Burial followed by his interment in St. Michael the Archangel Mausoleum at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Springfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
