Barbara "Barbie" (Pierce) Dolan, 80, passed away on Thursday,January 23, 2020 at Vero Healthcare formerly Wingate in Wilbraham with her two daughters by her side.
Born in Springfield, September 21,1939, she was a lifelong resident; daughter of the late Stanley and Lillian (Ackerman) Pierce, and sister of the late Irving Pierce.
Barbara was a graduate of Commerce High School. She earned an Associate Degree in Medical Transcription from Springfield Technical Community College in 1994. She also attended Springfield Community Music School and studied piano. She worked many years for Roger Gray Company as well as in homecare services.
She was devoted to her family and provided a loving home to her daughters, her mother and her furry friends (cats).
Barbara loved playing the piano & singing, cooking, gardening, spending time with her family and her furry sidekick Simba.
She was predeceased by her husbands Richard F. Dolan in 1978 and Thomas Rapisarda in 2017. She is survived by her daughter's Patricia (Dolan) Robinson of Springfield and Lisa (Dolan) Antunes of Ludlow. Her grandchildren David Antunes and Eric Antunes and many great grandchildren.
Her daughters have personally organized a service with Trinity United Methodist Church, 361 Sumner Ave., in Springfield, on Friday, February 7, 2020 at 11am, following will be a fellowship, celebrating Barbara’s life, at the same location. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to: Dakin Humane Society, 171 Union St., Springfield, MA 01105.
