Carmine DeCaro died surrounded by his loving family on November 24, 2020, at the age of 90.Â
Born in Bracigliano, Italy, he was the son of the late Giuseppe & Giuseppina (Petrone) DeCaro. Carmine and his wife Carmela (Russo) settled in Springfield in 1958. Â
Carmine worked as a baker for both La Fiorentina and The Boys & Girls Club of Springfield. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and a member of the Mt. Carmel Society. He had a passion for gardening, cooking, bocce, and family.Â
Carmine will be dearly missed by his children, son Frank DeCaro and wife Maria of Feeding Hills, daughter Anna VanTassel of Springfield, son Joseph Decaro Sr. of Agawam, son Emilio DeCaro of Florida, his beloved 11 grandchildren, and cherished 9 great grandchildren. He also leaves his sister Tina Giordano and her husband John of Agawam, brother Emelio of Bracigliano, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family here and in Italy.Â
Along with Carmela, Carmine was predeceased by his brothers, Ulderico and wife Kathy, and Salvatore.Â
Family and friends are invited to Carmine’s wake, Thursday December 3, 4-6pm at Tazzini Funeral Home 22 Locust St. in Springfield. Carmine’s funeral will begin Friday at 9 am at Tazzini Funeral Home, proceeding to his Liturgy of Christian Burial, 10 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Masks and social distancing required at all.
