Elsa Vincenza (Elsie L.) (Montori) McClean, 99, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2019. A lifelong Springfield resident, Elsa was born on January 14, 1920 to Romeo and Corradina (Selva) Montori. She was educated in Springfield schools, and worked during her early years at her parents' grocery store, Montori's Market on Sumner Avenue. She was married for over 60 years to Frederick Charles (Fred C.) McClean, who predeceased her in 2002, and worked with him for several years at his family plumbing and heating supply company, Fred C. McClean Supplies Corp. A devoted wife and mother of six daughters, Elsa was an avid reader and traveler, and author of the self-published book "Corradina" a poignant memoir of the life of her mother. She and her family spent their summers at Point O'Woods Beach in South Lyme, CT. Elsa was predeceased by her daughter Elizabeth McClean Jackson in 1970, and by her brother Dr. Carlo Q. Montori in 2001. She is survived by her daughters, Maryanne Jule of Lexington, MA, Patricia McClean and her partner Gary Stewart of Dorchester, MA, Sarah McClean of Boston, MA, Katherine McClean of Framingham, MA and Cora Ekwurtzel and her husband Stephen of Granby, CT. She is survived as well by her grandchildren, llsa Jule of San Francisco, CA, Ursula Macmillan and her husband William of Milton, MA, Daegan Jule and his wife Beth, of Lyndhurst, NJ, Stephen Ekwurtzel of Granby, CT and Samuel Ekwurtzel and his wife Aki of Brooklyn, NY, and by her great-grandchildren William and Jackson Macmillan, Ted Cohen and Colin Jule, Avery and Tegan Ekwurtzel and Ray Ekwurtzel. She also leaves a nephew, nieces and many other loving relatives, close friends and good neighbors. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at the Dorcas Chapin Chapel in the Springfield Cemetery, 171 Maple Street, Springfield; interment will follow. ln lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elsa's memory, to Friends of the Springfield Library, 220 State Street, Springfield, MA 01103.
