Francesco Mango, 90, died peacefully at home on April 4, 2023, surrounded by his family.
Born on December 2, 1932, in Atena Lucana, Italy, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Colomba Concetta (Cichetti) Mango.
Francesco immigrated to the United States in April of 1975 and settled in the South End of Springfield. He worked at Smith & Wesson, retiring after 22 years.
Francesco was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life, including farming and playing Italian cards. He will be deeply missed.
He leaves behind his children, Concetta Viviano & husband Ciro, Josephine Rooney & husband William, and Antonella Mango, grandchildren, Mariangela Merced, Raffaella Viviano, Ivana Peritore & husband Christopher, Ariana Buckley, Patrick Buckley & wife Lauren, PJ Buckley, Francesca Buckley & partner Jeremy Keohane, great-grandchildren, Michael Merced, Lucas Buckley, Viviana Peritore, Evelyn Buckley, and his beloved four-legged companion, Farley Viviano.
He was predeceased by his former wife, Raffaela Mango, brothers, Antonio and Giuseppe Mango, and grandson-in-law, Jason Merced.
All are invited to Francesco's Liturgy of Christian Burial, Wednesday, April 12, 2023, 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Springfield. Burial will be private at the convenience of his family.
