Frank Joseph Gentile, Sr., 92, passed away with his cherished family by his side. Born in Springfield on November 28, 1926, he was the son of Joseph & Helen (Cicceralli) Gentile. Frank proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Frank worked very hard all of his life, being the founder of Dale Autobody, Frank’s Appraisal Service, and Mass Auto Recovery. Frank retired in 1986 and loved spending his time with family, friends, & his golf clubs, being a member at several local courses. He will be dearly missed by his wife Sandy (Deloghia) Gentile of 40 wonderful years; they were always grateful for each other, from their, “I do,” to his very last day when Frank held Sandy’s hand and said his final, “goodbye.” He will be dearly missed by his daughter Helen VanTassel of E. Longmeadow; sons Frank J. Gentile Jr. (Linda) of Springfield & Andrew Gentile (Tammy) of Feeding Hills; his dearest grandchildren Jason, Eric, Anthony, Chase & Samantha; and his 6 beloved great-grandchildren. He also leaves his brother Robert Gentile (Maureen) of E. Longmeadow; sisters-in-law Julia & Isabel Gentile of Springfield, and Carol Swenor of Feeding Hills. Frank was predeceased by his first wife Grace (Tranghese) Gentile, and his brothers Albert & Thomas Gentile. Family was always important to Frank who was very grateful for any time he could spend with all of them, including his many nieces & nephews. Please come celebrate Frank’s life, Thursday, October 3, from 4-7 at Tazzini Funeral Home, 22 Locust St., in Springfield; then for his Funeral Mass, Friday, 9:30, meeting at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 123 William St., in Springfield. His burial, with full military honors, will follow at 11 in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
