George W. George, 95, son of the late William J. and Catherine George of Turkey, passed away on April 12, 2019. Born and raised in Springfield, graduating from the High School of Commerce, George was the consummate entrepreneur. He owned several businesses in the Springfield area most notably,

W. J. George & Son Tailors. In his 70’s he actually owned and personally ran a successful window cleaning business! Being a man of the community, George was a member of AhePa, the Director’s Unit of the Melha Shriners, the YMCA and the Newton Lodge of Masons – All Scottish Rite Bodies. He was married to the love of his life, the late Anne (Kamaros) George, whom he missed dearly upon her passing in 2014. George leaves his loving daughters Christine Babineau and husband Joseph of Belchertown, Kathryn O’Connor and husband Mark of Fitchburg, his 6 granddaughters, and 2 great-grandsons. Sadly, he was also predeceased by his son William and daughter Maryanne Buckley. His family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Heidi, Alicia and Stephanie who were like family, providing such great love and care for George, as well as Frank Stirlacci for his unending friendship, and always making George look sharp. A visiting hour will be Monday, April 15th , from 10 11AM, followed by a funeral service at 11 at St. Luke’s Greek Orthodox Church in East Longmeadow. A private burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in George’s memory to the Shriners Children’s Hospital or to St. Luke’s Church.
