Giulio C. Mauri

Giulio Carlo Mauri, 86, was called to his eternal home on March 3, 2021 at Mercy Medical Center following a brief illness.

Born in Rome, Italy, he was the son of two adventurous Italian immigrants, the late Renato and Claudia (Callini) Mauri.

He was proud of his Catholic Faith, his family, and his Italian heritage. His quiet and steadfast ways will be missed by his family and friends, as well as the stray cats he fed regularly.

Giulio attended Springfield Technical High School and was employed as a pressman by the Republican Publishing Company prior to retirement. A communicant of Mary, Mother of Hope Church, he served as head usher for many years at the 8 a.m. Sunday Mass.

In addition to his parents, Giulio was predeceased by his sister, Mary Mauri, nephew, Christopher Mauri, and brother-in-law, Peter Adzima. Giulio is survived by two sisters, Gloria Adzima of Belchertown and Sister M. Claudia Mauri of York, PA, brother, Joseph Mauri and wife Judith of Longmeadow, and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are cousins, Nancy Turski of Bloomfield, CT and Luciano Callini and wife Tilley of Houston, TX, as well as many cousins in Rome and Caspano, Italy.

A graveside service was held at St. Michael’s Cemetery. A Memorial Mass and celebration of life for both Giulio and his beloved sister Mary, will be celebrated at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Blvd., Springfield, MA 01104.
