Giuseppina Becker


Giuseppina (Zenga) Becker passed away peacefully, on Monday October 11, 2021, with her closest family by her side.

Known affectionately to her friends and family as “Pina,” Giuseppina was born in Naples, Italy, the daughter of prolific orchestra conductor, Professore Carlo and Carmela (Cassino) Zenga. She was predeceased by her beloved siblings, Salvatore and Antonietta Zenga.

She met the love of her life, the late Robert Stanley Becker, at a wedding, while he was serving in the Navy’s U.S. Sixth Fleet, stationed at the N.A.T.O Naval Base in Naples, Italy.

Giuseppina will be missed dearly by her children, Anthony Becker & wife Karoline, Bridgette Langevin & husband Steve, Charles Becker & Al Rauh, and Thomas Becker & wife Michelle; sisters, Anna (Zenga) Krinsky and Maria (Zenga) Adamski, brother, Benito Zenga & wife Eva; grandchildren, Timothy Lamora, Michelle Becker, Nicole Becker, Brenden, Shane, Brady, Kelsey Becker, Michael, Kristin and Andrew Langevin, Matthew, Valerie and Alyssa Becker; great-grandchildren, Vanessa, Alex and Aubree Menard, Kaleb, Noah and Kameron Lamora and Trevor Becker; and caretaker, Tara Maynard, who she considered a daughter.

She will be remembered for her love of Italy, her personality and forte volontà (strong will.) There was never a person she met who didn’t love her instantly.

Family and friends are invited to visit Friday, October 15, 4-6 p.m. at Tazzini Funeral Home, 22 Locust Street in Springfield. Giuseppina’s funeral service will begin Saturday morning, 9 a.m. at the Funeral Home, proceeding to her 10 a.m. Liturgy of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, with a private burial at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery. Masks are required.
