Hilda L. Parker

Hilda “Skip” Leona (Gauthier) Parker, 97, passed away peacefully in her home on Parker Street, Saturday morning, November 23, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.

Born May 11, 1922 in Springfield, Skip was the daughter of the late Theodore & Leona (Pease) Gauthier.

After graduating American International College with a bachelor’s degree, she worked in the insurance industry for many years; all the while being a homemaker with her husband of nearly 65 years, the late Edward E. Parker, and raising their two children.

A native to Massachusetts, Skip enjoyed ice skating on Porter Lake and attending horse shows at the Eastern States Exposition. Farm animals were dear to her heart, having owned a donkey, goat, and other animals for many years. In her spare time, Skip loved to garden, play the organ, and knit blankets for her grandchildren. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in East Longmeadow.

Skip is remembered for being a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and friend. She will be dearly missed by her son Keith and daughter-in-law Susan of Palmer; daughter Karen of East Longmeadow; granddaughters Sarah Belanger & her husband Jake of Springfield; and Kristine of Denver, CO, along with several dear cousins. Her family will forever cherish her positive spirit, sharp wit, and contagious laugh.

Tazzini/Dickinson-Streeter Funeral & Cremation Services of Springfield has been entrusted with her arrangements which are to be private, with burial at Baptist Village Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to: Shriners Hospitals for Children, Attn: Development, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607. Please visit www.TazziniFuneralHome.com to sign Skip’s guestbook.
