Springfield - Jon William Bottoni, Sr. passed away at the age of 70 on March 31, 2023, at Baystate Medical Center. Born on July 24, 1952, in Springfield, MA to the late Gene and Mary (Smith) Bottoni Sr. He was a graduate of Trade High School. He then went on to work at Pioneer Dairy in Southwick as a driver and in shipping for over 30 years. He then continued working at Autoparts International for 15 years. Watching all his children play sports was one of his favorite things to do, standing on the sidelines with his pipe! Jon loved to play UNO and Nintendo 64 “Tank’, was an avid model car builder. and you would always hear him ramble his made-up words into song lyrics. He was a foodie and always enjoyed a good meal.
Jon and his former wife Cathy (Doyle) Slater of 20 years, raised a beautiful family of five children: Clayton Goodrow, Christopher Goodrow (Predeceased 2019), Jennifer Bottoni, Jacqueline Bottoni and Jon Bottoni Jr. Blessed with eight grandchildren: Gina DiCastro, Angelo DiCastro (Predeceased 2002) Hailey (Goodrow) Suarez, Olivia Goodrow, Nathaniel Goodrow, Emilie Goodrow, Callie Goodrow and Brandon Goodrow. He leaves his sister Mary (Beatty) Goldschmidt and many loving nieces and nephews. Jon was predeceased by his brothers, Peter Beatty (2017) and Gene Bottoni Jr. (2020).
Calling hours will be held at the Tazzini Funeral Home 22 Locust St. Springfield, MA on Saturday April 15th from 11:00am – 1:00pm. A scattering of his ashes will take place at a later time.
