Joseph F. Luvera


Joseph Frank Luvera, 91, passed away on August 30, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Springfield, he was the son of the late Joseph & Josephine (Stellato) Luvera.

Joseph retired from the former Package Machinery Company in 1990. He was a 25-year veteran of the Springfield Auxiliary Police Department, retiring as Sergeant. Joe was the Founder and Chief of the Springfield Park Rangers, all volunteer force, for more than 25 years.

Predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years, Anna (Penna) Luvera, Joseph will be dearly missed by his sons, Joseph, Jr. & life partner Michelle of South Carolina, Stephen & wife Kathryn of E. Longmeadow, and Michael of Springfield, grandchildren, Stephanie, Gianni, Nicole & Tallia Luvera and Fabiano Ramazio, great-grandchildren, AnnaBelle & Mylee Vancini, sister-in-law, Patricia Luvera, goddaughter, Elizabeth Landers, and very special friend, Kathleen Savoy.

He was also predeceased by his siblings, Elsie Derderian, Rose Resta, Jennie Luvera, Virginia Fitzgerald, Mary Pelletier, Catherine Colello & Charles Luvera.

Due to his family’s ongoing concerns for everyone’s health in these uncertain times, Joseph’s funeral services and burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery, with full military honors, were private.
