Josephine S. Hightower




Josephine (Scibelli) Hightower, 90, died peacefully on August 14, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. Josie was born and raised in Springfield, by Enrico & Filomena (Delevo) Scibelli.After marrying the love of her life, the late Dean Hightower, Josie spent her time raising their two children. In her “free time,” Josie was active with the Italian Women’s Club, Our Lady of Grace, and was Treasurer of the South End Action Committee. After “retirement,” Josie loved her opera, and was known to like a slot machine or 3 at the MGM, but her number one priority and love was for her family, and they are grateful for her every day. Josie is survived by her son Anthony Matrango of Springfield and her beloved daughter Laura Tisdell of Agawam. She will also be dearly missed by her grandchildren John Tisdell & Sarah Matrango, great-grandchildren Avery NoelMatrango & newborn Jack Anthony Tisdell as well as all of her, “favorite” nieces & nephews. Along with her husband, Josie was pre-deceased by brothers, Michael, Pasquale & Mario Scibelli, and sister Edith Daigle. Visitation will be Sunday August 18, 4-7 at Tazzini Funeral Home, 22 Locust St. in Springfield. Her funeral will begin Monday, 9AM at Tazzini’s, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at Mt. Carmel Church at 10, followed by burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
