Julia Laura (Maratea) Shoemaker, 97, passed away, due to Covid-19, on May 28, 2020, at Bear Mountain WestSpringfield. Born in Springfield on April 16, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Dominic & Maria (Lavriola) Maratea.
Julia married the love of her life, John Kenneth Shoemaker, and spent many wonderful years together before his passing in 2008. She was the consummate homemaker, loved bowling, and was well known for her community involvement.
She is survived by her devoted son, Frank Shoemaker & wife Prudence of Springfield. Sadly, she was also pre-deceased by her 8 siblings.
Julia was laid to rest, alongside her husband John, at Hampton Memorial Gardens in Virginia.
