Louis J. Scarnici


Louis John Scarnici, 78, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.


Born in Springfield, he was the son of the late Thomas & Dorothy (Cignoni) Scarnici.


Louis graduated from Commerce High School and went on to work as a Financial Adjuster at Associates Finance Co. in Springfield, in the Finance Department at Carabetta Management Co. in Meriden, CT, and helped run the family business, Momo’s Variety Store in Springfield. Louis was a member of the National Guard.


Louis grew up within a very close-knit family whom he loved dearly, in Springfield’s South End. He was very proud of his Italian heritage and enjoyed telling stories of his family memories. Louis was a devoted and beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a very generous and kind person, always there for anyone in need. He loved spending time with his family. His nieces & nephews often called him, “The Professor” because he was so smart and knowledgeable on many different topics. Louis loved writing and won awards for his beautiful poems. He also enjoyed spending time with friends, often spending mornings with his close friends, Michael Goodman, and Dave & Paul Glantz at Buckeye Bros. Smokehouse.


Louis is survived by his daughter, Macaria Scarnici-Brown & husband Bobby Brown of Springfield, son, Christian Scarnici & wife Annette Scarnici of Chicopee, brother, James Scarnici of Springfield, grandsons, Bobby Louis Brown of Worcester, and Nicholas White & wife Nikita White of Chicopee, niece, Nicola Rodriguez & husband Michael Rodriguez of Springfield, ex-wife Carolyn (Cayode) Scarnici of Springfield, and many other cherished nieces & nephews.


He was predeceased by his sisters, Patricia Goulet & Lenora LaBosco.


Family and friends are invited to Louis’ Graveside Service, Friday, March 4, 1 p.m. at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.


Memorial contributions may be made to Dakin Humane Society.
