Margherita (Fierro) Liquori, 91, entered into eternal life, surrounded by her adoring children, on May 31, 2020. Born in Avellino, Italy in 1929, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Caterina (Penna) Fierro.
Margherita met and married the love of her life, Nobile Liquori, in 1957. After living in France for 10 years, they and their children immigrated to the U.S. in 1969, settling in Springfield’s South End. Together, they opened the South End Laundromat, building it to a successful business for over 20 years, where they made many close friends; all the while, raising their four children.
Margherita and Nobile spent 40 wonderful years together before his passing in 1997.
Her many loves included: cooking, gardening, and vacationing at the beach, but the most important was spending time with her family.
Margherita is survived by her children, Joseph Liquori and wife Robin of Springfield, Maria von Hollander and husband Fritz of Agawam, Caterina Liquori-Culhane of Feeding Hills, and Nina Chrisanthopoulos and husband Chris of Agawam, grandchildren, Eric, Karl, Bianca, Joseph, Sophia, and Cameron, and her dear sister, Filomena (Fierro) D’Amato in Milan, Italy, as well as numerous extended relatives.
The family extends their sincere gratitude to their mother’s caregivers, Jennifer, Michelle and Lourdes.
Family and friends are invited to Margherita’s Liturgy of Christian Burial, Friday, June 5, 2020, 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, followed by her burial at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Please adhere to the Diocesan directives requiring masks, and social distancing.

I am deeply saddened over Margherita's passing and express my sincere condolences to the Liquori family. May she rest in peace. I remember fondly her friendly warmth and that of the entire Liquori family during the happy days when Nina and my daughter Katrina were childhood friends, many years ago. I know that my wife Ruth would share my feelings if she were still alive. On behalf of her, Kate and myself I offer the deepest sympathy.
