Neri Perez


Neri Perez, 85, passed away at home, Thursday, May 2, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Carolina, Puerto Rico, on May 4, 1933, he was the son of the late Anastacio & Josephine Perez. Neri established and was the owner/operator of Perez Barber Shop in Chicopee for almost 50 years. Along with his wife, the former Dolores A. (Albano) Perez, he was appointed by Mayor Freedman to the Springfield Action Commission, was on the Board of Directors for the Council of Churches, and was an incorporator of the former Casa Credit Union. Neri also served as Deacon Emeritus for First Park Memorial Baptist Church. Neri will be dearly missed by his son James Perez & wife Tracy of Springfield, daughters, Debra Ursprung & husband Russell of Groton, MA, Susan Perez of Easthampton, and Lori Rodriguez & husband Edwin of Westfield, his daughter-in-law Donna Perez of Springfield, his 6 grandchildren & 3 great-granddaughters and his brothers, Ismael, Eliezer & Tito Perez. Sadly, along with his wife Dolores, Neri was pre-deceased by his brothers, Daniel & Elias Perez. Visiting hours will be Monday, May 6, from 4-7PM at Tazzini Funeral Home, 22 Locust St., in Springfield. His Funeral Prayer Service will be held Tuesday, 10AM at Tazzini Funeral Home with burial to follow in Hillcrest Park Cemetery.
