Peter Carl Iellamo, 81, formerly of Springfield, died peacefully on Saturday, September 3, 2022, comforted by his nieces Carol & Linda.
Born in Springfield on June 11, 1941, he was the son of the late, Giuseppe & Nellie (Zucco) Iellamo. He attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church Grammar School and graduated from Trade High School in Springfield. Following school, he had a career in store management with Growers Outlet/Big Y Supermarkets before retiring to Florida. He enjoyed his Floridian lifestyle of sun and travel with his longtime friend Robert Slater who predeceased him in 2006. His cocker spaniel, Pooh Bear, also brought him many years of joy & companionship.
Peter was a member of the St. Columbkille Roman Catholic Parish and developed many close friendships with neighbors in the communities in which he lived, including Cinnamon Cove & Brookdale Lakes Park.
Peter was predeceased by his brothers, Dominick Iellamo, Joseph Iellamo and twin brother, Paul Iellamo; sisters, Frances Carestia, Mary St. Germain, Nancy Scully, Catherine Maloney and Carmella Salvon.
He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Anne Marie Iellamo and Barbara Iellamo, along with a brother-in-law, Roger St. Germain, and many beloved nieces & nephews.
His nieces, Carol McCarthy & Linda Sleeper, both of Fort Myers, would like to give special thanks to the staff at Brookdale Assisted Living Lakes Park and Hope Hospice Care Center in Fort Myers.
All are invited to Peter's Liturgy of Christian Burial, Wednesday, October 5, 10 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Church in Springfield, followed by his committal service at St. Michael's Cemetery.
