Rosemary A. Rogers

Rosemary Ann (Washburn) Rogers, 80, passed peacefully on April 15, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Donald and Maize Washburn. She is survived by three of her children, Robin (Larry) Brotherton, Thomas (Mary) Rogers, and Glen Rogers. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter Cheryl recently. Rosemary also left behind a treasured brother-Willard (Renee) Washburn and dear grandchildren: Sarah (Daniel) DeMaiolo, Lindsay (Andy) Ross, Christopher Tirrell, Rose Rogers, Glen Rogers and many beloved nieces & nephews. She was so proud to be a Great Grandma of little Alex Ross.

Rosemary was a Graduate of Cooperstown High School in New York. She was an active member of the Cooperstown High School Athletic Association (GAA) and an advocate for greater female participation in organized athletics. Recognized by her peers by being elected the Queen of the GAA Formal with her love, Don Rogers, as her escort. She went to Bassett Hospital Nursing School and worked as a nurse. Serving for many years in the many charity organizations at First Church of Christ in Longmeadow, Rosemary also enjoyed serving as a Welcome Wagon Hostess.

Rosemary’s smile could light up a room. Her shining positivity was a gift to her whole family and everyone who knew her. Rosemary was such a caring, loving, inspiring mother who was always there for her family. Everyone treasured her special cards for every occasion. She also had many friends and was a well-loved member of the communities (Cooperstown, NY, Longmeadow MA, and Suffield CT) where she lived. She loved spending time with her family at the family lake in NY. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Don Rogers. We are heartened to know that they are together again. Rosemary loved roses and Don made sure she had roses on all special occasions. Unfortunately, she became allergic to flowers for many years. Now, the family would like to surround her with roses once again.

Funeral services will be held at First Church of Longmeadow, Saturday, May 27, at 1:00 p.m. Burial for Rosemary, with her daughter Cheryl as well, will be held Wednesday, May 31, 11:00 a.m. at Lakewood Cemetery, Cooperstown, NY.
