Julia (Mazzarino) Montessi, 92, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2019. Born in Springfield on March 2, 1927, she was the daughter of the late John & Lucia (Maratea) Mazzarinoof Italy. Julia and her husband, the late Peter James Montessi, together raised their three children. Julia worked for many years for the Town of Agawam as the Assistant Town Clerk, and was a Communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Agawam. She will be dearly missed by her sons Peter Michael & wife Anna Lisa of CA, Dominic & wife Celeste of E. Longmeadow, her daughter Nancy Conway of CT, brother Anthony & wife Olga Mazzarino of Longmeadow, her 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. Sadly, along with her husband, Julia was pre-deceased by her brother Felix and sisters Anne Bonavita, Josephine Pallatino & Carmela Stafilarakis. Her family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her caretakers, first and foremost her beloved granddaughter Charissa Carr, as well as, Bozena Milczarek, Nazzaria Sampson & Aurora Marin. Visitation will be Friday, September 6, 11-noon at Tazzini Funeral Home, 22 Locust St. in Springfield, followed by her Liturgy of Christian Burial, 1:30, at Mt.
