With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Thu Huong Nguyen on June 18, 2023, at age 71. Born in Saigon, Vietnam, to parents, Tham Van Nguyen and Cho Thi Nguyen, both of whom predeceased her, Thu Huong navigated a new language and culture when she immigrated to America, dedicating 27 years of service to Springfield Schools.
Predeceased by her former husband, Ugo Ronghi. Thu Huong leaves behind a strong legacy through her children, Laura Ronghi, Guido Ronghi, Andrea Foley & husband Shaun, and Katherine Ronghi, stepsons, Ugo & Tony, and she will be fondly remembered by her 10 cherished grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Ri Thị Nguyễn, Hoa Thị Nguyễn, and Hoài Thu Thị Nguyễn. Her beloved family, friends, and Chestnut TAG Middle School Developmental family join them in mourning and remembrance.
Thu Huong's life exemplified resilience and service. As a volunteer translator, she bridged language gaps in her community. Her work, combined with her compassionate care for the homeless and those in need, showcased her profound humanity.
A passionate vegan and animal lover, Thu Huong's faith as a disciple of Supreme Master Ching Hai guided her life's journey. As we remember Thu Huong, we honor her selfless service and enduring legacy. Her spirit will always continue to inspire, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Calling hours will be Friday, June 23, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Tazzini Funeral Home, 22 Locust Street in Springfield. There will be a celebration dinner after the service; information will be provided directly.Burial will be private.
