Carmelo Erminio Serafino


Carmelo E. Serafino, 89, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Carmelo, son of the late Giuseppe & Carmela (Cataldo)

Serafino, was born in Springfield on September 19, 1929. After graduating from Springfield Tech., Carmelo proudly served his country in the Navy, and went on to join the Springfield Fire Department in 1957, where he retired as Captain in 1987. Carmelo met, then married the love of his life, Carmella “Millie” (Moscarella) in

1955, spending the next 63 years together, raising their four beautiful children. Carmelo was a member of Springfield’s, Elk Lodge #60 and the Italian Cultural Center. Along with his wife Millie, he will also be dearly missed by his son Joseph J. Serafino & wife Dena of NH, daughters, Ann S. Ward & husband James of Chicopee, and Susan J. Snider & husband Robert of Ormond by the Sea, FL, as well as his 2 grandsons, Vincent & Thomas Serafino. Sadly, Carmelo was pre-deceased by his son Michael, brothers Joseph & Frank, and his sister Mary Federico. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 22, at

11:30AM at St. Catherine of Sienna Church in Springfield, with burial to follow in

St. Michael’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation, in
