Donald L. Ferri

Donald Louis Ferri, 85, passed away surrounded by his devoted family on August 3, 2022. Born in Springfield on April 19, 1937, he was the son of the late John & Evelyn Ferri.

Donnie graduated from Springfield’s High School of Commerce, where he enjoyed playing baseball, soccer, and bowling. After high school he enlisted in the Army National Guard for six years. He was a hard worker, often holding more than one job at a time. He worked at W.T Grants, Finast, and C&S Warehouses, earning the nickname “Donnie Donuts” by bringing donuts into the warehouse daily to be sold for a profit.

Despite never living outside of Massachusetts, Donnie was an avid Cleveland sports fan, taking his family to Ohio, instead of Disney, for vacation. Donnie was a loyal friend, maintaining several lifelong friendships from his childhood and work life. He also frequented multiple barbershops on a regular basis, despite his wife being a hairdresser.

Donnie is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Marie (Campagnari) Ferri, daughter, Dawn Sweetman & husband Jeffrey, son, Jason Ferri & wife Tina, and grandchildren, Brianna, Ruby, Jacob, & Kaleb. He also leaves his canine companion, Princess, an extensive network of close friends, a lifetime of laughter and many wonderful memories.

Family and friends are invited to visit, Tuesday, August 9, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Tazzini Funeral Home, 22 Locust Street in Springfield. Donald’s Liturgy of Christian Burial will be Wednesday morning at 10:00, meeting at St. Elizabeth’s Parish, 181 Hubbard Street in Ludlow. Please park in front of the church if you plan to proceed to St. Michael’s Cemetery for interment.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
