Germaine “Geri” G. Tranghese


Germaine “Geri” Grace (Morace) Tranghese, 90, of Springfield passed away Saturday, March 20, 2021. Born in Springfield, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Jennie (D’Amore) Morace.

Geri was a lifelong resident of Springfield, residing in the South End and Forest Park neighborhoods. She worked for Chez Josef, Greater Springfield Senior Services, and the Longmeadow School Department, retiring at the age of eighty.

Geri was a hard worker, proud of her Italian Heritage and loved her family. She was a devout Catholic and faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church (OLMCC) in Springfield. She loved playing bingo and cooking her favorite Italian dishes. She loved celebrating the Italian traditions, embracing the love of family and friends; her door was always open for gatherings, meals, and endless conversation.

Geri will be dearly missed by her cherished sons, John Tranghese and wife Michele, and Anthony Tranghese and wife Paula, all of East Longmeadow. She will also be greatly missed by her beloved grandchildren, Anthony Tranghese and partner Hilary Barnard, Christopher Tranghese and wife Alesandra, James Tranghese and wife Jennifer, and Mia Tranghese.

Geri was predeceased by her beloved husband, James W. Tranghese, in 2016.

A very special thank you goes to the entire staff at JGS Life Care in Longmeadow, especially, Cheryl Gumlaw, Ellie Riberio, and Dr. Udaya Jagadeesan. Their care and compassion will never be forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to Geri’s Liturgy of Christian Burial, Wednesday, March 24, 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Church. A private burial will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery.

At the family's request, due to Covid-19, a private visitation will be held Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. at Tazzini Funeral Home, for her family and closest friends.
